On Feruary 24th an 8 year old boy from Lincolnton, N.C. died from an apprent heart attack while attending school at Pumpkin Center Intermediate. After complaining of trouble breathing he visited the nurse's office where unfortunately he went into cardiac arrest. He was transported to a hospital close by, then taken to CMC Charlotte. He passed away during the night. Now the question remains...should parents be worried? The truth is heart attacks in children can happen but are very rare. These types of attacks in children usually occur in such diseases as Kawasakie's disease, which involves inflammation of the blood vessels. Most chest pains in children derive from asthma, infection from a virus, or even strained muscles. Parents who have children complaining of severe chest pain should seek medical attention immediately. Even if the pains turn out to not be severe but still painful it is still always safe to seek medical attention.

16 And Pregnant/ Teen Mom Doing More Harm Than Good?
Nevermind sex tapes, plastic surgery, and fist pumping. The new way to get your face on television and spread all over a magazine is to get pregnant when your a teenager and have a baby on Mtv. Young girls are anxious to be featured on Mtv's big hits, "16 and Pregnant," and "Teen Mom" and they are willing to get pregnant on purpose to do it. Don't believe me? Just surf the internet on this topic and you will quickly learn that these girls are actually visiting public forums and asking how they can score an audition. In the world or reality tv networks pay big money auditioning all over the county to ensure they get the right combination. The casting process for "Teen Mom" and "16 and Pregnant" is quite difficult so it is good news that the talent aspect of rising stars who are pregnant and teenagers is very small. Anyone who is already raising a child knows first hand that it is the most difficult and important commitment one can make. So when young girls are thinking pregnant=fame it gives a bold reminder of the decaying morals are American society. They are too self centered to realize their choice to become teenage mothers. When the cameras are turned off for good and their 15 minutes of fame are up they now have a lifetime of responsiblity that they can not handle.
Mtv's creation of showcasing teen pregnancy actually came about in light of Britney Spear's little sister , Jamie Lynn, who revealed she herself was pregnant at just 16 years old....on the cover of Ok! Magazine of all places. Mtv's intentions did not include glamorizing the issue or making it seem like the show was an easy ride to fame. "16 and Pregnant" deals with hard problems such as high tension relationships, graduating from high school, and finanal woes. Even after the babies are born the cameras are still rolling for the purpose of showcasing the struggles with caring for babies while still trying to be teenagers. Despire the rise in teen pregnancy on Mtv, the numbers show that the number of teen pregnancies in the United States from 435, 427 in 2006 to 445,045 in 2007. They only decreased by 2% in 2008.

Mama Monster
On Saturday February 19th 2011 I and 13,500 others had a beautiful religious experience. Not with God and not with Jesus. We experienced Lady Gaga or Mama Monster as we like to call her. This was the first date for her 2011 North American Tour entitled, "Monster Ball." Lady Gaga had been off the road for two months and it was apparent to us that she missed her fans dearly by first stating
"I've miss you all so much!" As much as she missed us during her break we all wondered if she would person her new hit single, "Born This Way." At the end of her performance for "Bad Romance" she could be heard saying," You better not leave when this song is done. There may be a surprise." We didn't know what the surprise was but we wanted it to be her performing "Born This Way." We got our wish. It went dark and we waited for what seemed like forever to be surprised. After minutes of screaming and chanting her name she appeared with her dancers and began the first hook of "Born This Way."
"It doesn't matter if you love him, or capital H-I-M
Just put your paws up
'Cause you were born this way, baby."

Valentines Day?
My name is Ashley Wass. Throughout this blog I will be talking about stories that may interest me and in the process give my opinion. I find myself to be an interesting person with respectable views. I read and watch the news quite a bit so I am very well informed. I love stumbling across strange stories and sharing them with others. This world is full of stories all over the world. Why not share them with you? I hope you enjoy my blogs :)
What is Valentine's Day? When did it start? Why did it start? Most people celebrate Valentine's Day for the sake of tradition. Or is there more to the chocolates, flowers, and sappy cards?
Every February the Roman Empire held a festival every February 14th in order for men to pick thier soul mates and marry them. After Claudius came to power he refused to allow the celebration to continue for fear that the men would not pay him any mind any longer but rather pay more attention to their wives. In disagreement the men met with a bishop names Valentine. Valentine was a true believer in love and struck a deal to marry the coupes in private. Unfortunately, Claudius discovered the secret ceremonies and order for Valentine to be executed.
In 496 AD, The Roman Empire was overthrown by Christianity thus giving Pope Gelasis the right to ban marriage all together. But not the festival itself. He realized the strong likeness for the festival so he changed it to a day to remember the executed St. Valentine. Now that your know the history of Valentines Day can you figure out where the presents and lovey dovey stuff came in? Neither can I. All I know is that this day is only in existence because a man named Valentine was beheaded. So sweet right?
♥Happy Valentines Day♥
